Easter Shelling: How Russians “congratulated” Ukraine
On the 16th of April, Ukrainians celebrated Easter. This article could cover some religious traditions and contain photos from church service in peacetime. But it’s hard to write about that when your country is being shelled by Russians even on this holy day. Here is a brief account of how Russian “congratulated” Ukraine on Easter.
On the night before Easter, Russians shelled the Komyshuvakha village near Zaporizhzhia. According to the Zaporizhzhia regional administration, a local church and nearby buildings were damaged.
In the afternoon, Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region also suffered. The regional administration wrote that the local church was shelled by heavy artillery. Two persons were injured. Also, the enemy shelled the electric grid and utility buildings.
In the evening, Russians shelled Zaporizhzhia. The regional administration said that the enemy hit local cottages.
Sure, it’s only a brief post that cannot convey what Ukrainians felt that day. But at least it lets you imagine how Russia which claims itself Christian country treats the religious traditions, beliefs, and civilians.
